How to use bili

We have created bili to be your personal EAA and digital accessibility expert and to meet you where you are at in terms of your experience and expertise around digital accessibility. Given this, how everyone uses bili will be unique. Here are our recommendations on how to get started.

Getting started

Bili is an artificial intelligence (AI) assistant trained specifically to support businesses optimise digital accessibility and adhere to the European Accessibility Act.

Bili behaves in a similar manner to popular AI interfaces such as Claude, Gemini and ChatGPT in that you the user ask questions and bili will respond with expert advise and recommendations to support achieving EAA compliance and support digital accessibility.

Unsure where to begin?

If you are completely new to the world of accessibility or AI assistants, bili is here to help you. If you don’t know where to begin, simply send bili a message saying “Help me get started.” Bili will then ask you a few questions about you, your role at your company and about what you are working on. With this information, bili will be able to start telling you “what” it is that you work on that needs to be EAA compliant and “how” you can optimise your current set-up and activities for digital accessibility.

Using bili everyday

Once you are comfortable with how the platform works, you can get started by asking bili anything related to digital accessibility or EAA compliance. Your initial response will likely share the following details:

  • Does the activity/action need to be EAA compliant

  • Why this is the case

  • Some initial considerations or actions you may want to take

  • What would you like next?

After the first response, bili will respond in an easy to understand and appropriate manner based on what you have asked. This can include:

  • a detailed list of activities you can take to improve accessibility for the task

  • actions you can take to improve accessibility

  • further questions to help prepare a more detailed response

  • a checklist/project plan

  • a draft email to send focused on accessibility

  • references to specific part of relevant legislation

As with any AI assistant, the more quality and context you share, the better the response will be. If however you ask a simple question related to a project or task you are working on, bili will work to inform you on the EAA compliance and digital accessibility considerations by requesting further information as needed.

What can I ask bili?

The short answer is: anything.

We have built bili to be like a colleague that you sit beside, but this colleague knows everything there is to know about digital accessibility, EAA compliance and all things related to making your product/service available to everyone.

We have users who tell bili what they’re about to code and it will help them with elements they should consider. Our UI/UX clients give the system copy or html and ask whether it is compliant and how it can be improved. Other users ask bili to help them a business case for their organisation to get more resources or funding for their accessibility efforts by highlighting how many more customers they can get by improving the accessibility of their product/service.

By signing up for bili today, you will also get access to our founding members Discord server. This is a private community for our first 100 customers to share how they are using bili and share advice and best practices on all things bili.

Handling errors

The two most likely causes for errors in bili are: requests that are too big or requests not related to accessibility.

  1. Requests that are too big

This is a problem if you try to input too much information in one go. This will only happen in extreme cases such as pasting the content of a 20 page Microsoft word document or thousands of lines of html into bili. This can typically be resolved by inputting the content through batches of smaller queries.

  2. Requests not related to accessibility.

We have built bili to be a tool focused on digital accessibility and EAA compliance. For any queries not specifically asking about an accessibility or compliance query, bili will assume the user wants to know whether the task/project they are describing needs to be EAA compliant and how they can optimise for for digital accessibility.

If however, bili does not understand your query to be related to something to do with your job, or something related to the EAA or accessibility, it will return an error stating:

“I'm sorry, that does not appear to be an accessibility query. Please try to rephrase your query/question highlighting specifically what you want to know regarding accessibility.”

Typically, rephrasing the question will resolve this issue, especially if you include a direct as like:

  • what do I need to consider around the EAA for <task ABC>

  • how can I make <task XYZ> more accessible for our end users

As with anything related to bili, if you have any issues or feel like something could be done better, please reach out to the founding team at support@bili-ai.co and we will be in touch to discuss how we make bili work for you.
